Bentley Systems introduces GenAI in its new OpenSite+ tool, enhancing productivity and accuracy in civil site design.

At Bentley Systems‘ Year in Infrastructure 2024 event, the company launched OpenSite+, ab application that leverages GenAI for civil site design. OpenSite+ addresses challenges like repetitive tasks and design inefficiencies by automating key processes, allowing engineers to focus on higher-value work. With tools for site layout optimization and automated drawing production, OpenSite+ significantly boosts both productivity and design accuracy.

A major challenge in infrastructure design is handling repetitive and time-consuming tasks like drawing production and layout changes. OpenSite+ overcomes this by integrating AI-powered tools that automate these tasks. The AI copilot allows engineers to interact with design requirements through natural language, enabling real-time changes with ease. Additionally, the layout optimization tool evaluates thousands of layout options and suggests the most efficient designs, saving both time and costs.

OpenSite+ also automates drawing production, reducing time spent on labeling, dimensioning, and annotation by up to 10 times. This Generative AI solution streamlines workflows, ensuring accurate and aesthetic designs. The tool also features smart design options, allowing users to create and revise layouts for driveways, sidewalks, and building pads much faster than traditional methods.

Built on Bentley’s iTwin platform, OpenSite+ ensures data control, enabling seamless collaboration across teams and projects. This cloud-based, digital twin-native tool integrates data from various sources, providing a whole view of each project and allowing for more informed decision-making. The platform’s GenAI capabilities are designed to learn from previous projects. Applying that knowledge to continuously refine and improve future designs.
