ByteDance AI assistant, Doubao, has launched a new music tool generation feature, allowing users to create personalized music tracks.

With this new AI tool feature, users can enter a theme or lyrics in the “Music Generation” section of Doubao, select the music style. As well as mood, and vocal type. And then quickly generate a song lasting about one minute. The platform offers 11 music genres, including folk, hip-hop, and R&B. As well as niche styles like jazz, reggae, and electronic. Users can choose either male or female vocals, and the AI-generated music excels in both clarity and fluidity of lyrics. To better align with users’ emotional expressions, Doubao also provides pre-set mood options such as happiness and sadness.

For example, after a bike ride, a user could enter a description like “riding alone at sunset, seeing the orange sun in the distance,” choose the “R&B” style and “romantic” mood. And then Doubao would automatically generate music and lyrics to match. Along with a custom song cover based on the lyrics. The finished track can be easily shared on social platforms like TikTok.

Currently, Doubao’s generated music is limited to a maximum of one minute and 200 characters in lyrics. A Doubao representative mentioned that while the music generation feature is still in its early stages and has room for improvement. The goal is to inspire more people to express their emotions and share their stories through music.

This case matters because it shows how GenAI can aid creative expression, turning complex tasks like music composition into accessible, personalized experiences. Beyond ByteDance, it reflects a broader enterprise challenge. Which is scaling creative output while maintaining quality, emotional resonance, and user engagement. The case represents the problem of enabling meaningful, high-quality content generation at scale without requiring specialized skills. By combining AI-driven composition, lyric generation, and mood alignment, platforms can empower millions of users to express themselves, share stories, and engage communities in ways previously limited by talent, time, or tools.
