Reid Health partners with Abridge to deploy a generative AI solution that improves clinical documentation and patient care.

Reid Health, a rural healthcare system serving 280,000 people in Indiana and Ohio, has finalized an agreement with Abridge, a leader in generative AI for clinical documentation. This partnership expands the use of Abridge’s AI solution across all clinicians in Reid Health, following a successful six-month pilot.

Abridge’s technology automates real-time clinical documentation, seamlessly integrating within Epic’s workflow. By reducing the burden of administrative tasks, Abridge allows clinicians to spend more time focusing on patient care rather than paperwork—a crucial benefit in rural areas facing workforce shortages.

Muhammad Siddiqui, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Reid Health, emphasized the impact of Abridge on care efficiency, stating that response times to patient calls have significantly improved. Since implementing Abridge, Reid Health has seen a 60% reduction in after-hours documentation time and an 87% faster response time to patient calls, allowing clinicians to be more present during visits.

Dr. Annuradha Bhandari, a family medicine physician at Reid, praised Abridge for its adaptability to different South Asian dialects, enhancing the care experience for diverse patient populations. Abridge’s generative AI has also been deployed at other leading health systems, including UPMC, Yale New Haven Health System, and the University of Kansas Health System.

Abridge’s adoption by Reid Health is part of a broader trend of healthcare providers leveraging AI to improve efficiency and restore a more patient-centric approach to care.
