Foley & Lardner has integrated Relativity’s aiR for Review, a GenAI tool, to streamline multilingual document review. Cutting translation costs and accelerating legal workflows. Legal teams traditionally face high costs and delays when reviewing foreign-language documents. Foley tested aiR for Review in a bilingual Spanish-English investigation, using AI to translate, analyze, and generate citations for legal documents. The AI processed 2,292 records, identifying 589 as relevant, with a less than 1% error rate after human validation. The ability to analyze and summarize Spanish documents in English eliminated the need for costly translations. Allowing attorneys to quickly assess key findings and advise clients faster.
Refining AI prompts played a crucial role in improving accuracy. An iterative testing process helped optimize aiR’s ability to detect issues and cite sources correctly. Over multiple rounds of human validation, aiR demonstrated a 99% accuracy rate in its rationale and an 89% accuracy rate in citation support. This ensured that legal teams could trust AI-generated insights while maintaining compliance and review quality.
With aiR for Review, Foley has transformed multilingual eDiscovery, reducing costs and enabling attorneys to focus on case strategy rather than manual translation. By eliminating language barriers, GenAI allows firms to engage subject-matter experts without requiring them to be fluent in the document’s source language. Foley’s success demonstrates the potential of GenAI to enhance efficiency and accuracy in legal investigations.
