Leveraging GenAI technologies, students from the university’s AI-focused program developed an innovative smart poultry farming system. This system, focused on ‘Silkie’ chickens, renowned for their distinctive black flesh, marks a significant advancement in agricultural GenAI applications.

The project, spanning over eight months, involved intricate hardware installation and multimodal algorithm training, resulting in a comprehensive smart farming system. This system integrates target detection, tracking, behavior recognition, and environmental monitoring through IoT devices. It significantly reduced disease spread, improved overall health, and enhanced the safety of the poultry environment.

Notably, this isn’t just an isolated app but a full-scale industry-level solution comprising a multifaceted terminal layout with apps, smart screens, and a diverse algorithm matrix. It covers the entire production, management, and marketing process, aiming to digitize and optimize poultry farming in China comprehensively.

The system’s success is evident in its impressive results: a 30% increase in the output of ‘Silkie’ chickens, amounting to an additional 60,000 chickens over six months. As a token of gratitude and to celebrate this achievement, hundreds of ‘Silkie’ chickens and eggs were sent to Shenzhen University. These were turned into ‘AI chicken soup’ and shared with over ten thousand teachers and students, offering a taste of technology’s impact on traditional practices.
