UnionBank of the Philippines turns to AWS GenAI to aid its data analytics workflows and remove long-standing reporting bottlenecks.
UnionBank of the Philippines has adopted AWS GenAI tools to modernize its data analytics workflows and remove long-standing reporting bottlenecks. The bank integrated Amazon Quick Suite to let non-technical staff run natural-language analytics without relying on data engineers. This shift tackles the core challenge of slow report creation, which previously restricted decision-making and delayed operational insights across teams.
The GenAI-driven system enables over 200 employees in operations, technology and product development to independently query data through conversational prompts. This unlocks rapid insight generation and aims to deliver three-to-five-times faster turnaround once fully scaled. The bank views this as a major step in data democratization, since business teams can now explore trends, validate assumptions and test scenarios without manual SQL requests or dashboard builds.
UnionBank reports that the deployment has already lowered operational costs by about 30%, driven by reduced dependency on centralized data teams and faster internal workflows. Early use cases include campaign monitoring and account management, where GenAI helps interpret performance shifts, detect anomalies and summarize outcomes. By widening access to analytics, the bank accelerates decision cycles that previously stalled due to reporting delays.
AWS notes rising GenAI adoption in the Philippines, and sees UnionBank’s rollout as a model for AI-assisted financial operations. With natural-language access, the bank gains a stronger foundation for future automation across compliance, customer intelligence and risk analysis. UnionBank expects the system to support broader digital transformation efforts by ensuring that high-quality insights reach the right teams in real time, allowing the bank to respond faster to market needs.
