Alibaba’s new AI Programmer slashes software development times, improving efficiency for developers.
Alibaba’s Cloud Intelligence Group has launched the “AI Programmer,” a GenAI tool powered by their in-house LLM. This tool combines the roles of software architect, development engineer, and test engineer, greatly reducing the time needed to develop applications for individual and corporate developers.
Developers often face the challenge of lengthy coding and testing processes. The AI Programmer solves this by speeding up these tasks, sometimes completing them in minutes. This boosts Alibaba Cloud’s offerings, positioning it to benefit from the growing GenAI market, which is expected to hit $356.10 billion by 2030.
Alibaba’s GenAI efforts also include the release of Qwen2.5, an improved version of its LLM, Tongyi Qianwen. Qwen2.5 offers better reasoning, code understanding, and text comprehension, giving developers a strong tool for their projects. Additionally, the updated Model Studio now provides a wider range of AI models and tools for developers around the world.
Despite strong competition from Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet, Alibaba’s focus on GenAI is driving its cloud division’s success. In Q4 fiscal 2024, Alibaba Cloud’s revenue grew to RMB 25.6 billion ($3.5 billion), a 3% increase from the previous year, showing the positive impact of its GenAI innovations.
