GE HealthCare introduces CareIntellect for Oncology, using GenAI to streamline cancer treatment by organizing and summarizing patient data.
GE HealthCare gives rise to CareIntellect for Oncology. It is a cloud-based solution that leverages GenAI to help clinicians access and analyze multi-modal patient data. This includes medical images, records, and clinical notes. Designed to simplify the time-consuming process of reviewing patient histories, this tool provides a concise view of disease progression and treatment adherence. Flagging potential deviations that could inform timely interventions. Initially focusing on prostate and breast cancer, the application is set to launch in 2025.
One major challenge in oncology is managing vast amounts of unstructured data scattered across multiple systems. CareIntellect’s GenAI capabilities address this by using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to gather and synthesize patient data into a single view. This reduces hours of manual data search and analysis to mere minutes. Giving clinicians a clearer picture of a patient’s journey while maintaining access to original data sources. The AI can also identify missing treatments, such as overdue lab work, and suggest next steps for intervention.
Another key benefit of CareIntellect for Oncology is its ability to streamline clinical trial matching. By comparing patient records with trial criteria, the tool helps clinicians quickly assess eligibility for ongoing studies, reducing the workload on healthcare teams and improving patient access to experimental treatments.
As the first application in GE’s new CareIntellect suite, this tool minimizes integration complexity, allowing healthcare providers to adopt new AI solutions seamlessly. With early evaluation already underway at Tampa General Hospital, this GenAI-driven platform is set to enhance both operational efficiency and patient care outcomes.
