TELUS Digital introduces Fuel EX, an enterprise-safe GenAI assistant enhancing productivity and security.
TELUS Digital, set to rebrand later this year, has launched Fuel EX, an enterprise-safe generative AI (GenAI) assistant designed to boost employee productivity, creativity, and research. Fuel EX is the first application built on TELUS Digital’s GenAI engine, Fuel iX, and is currently utilized by 35,000 TELUS employees. This tool provides a secure interface for accessing over 20 large language models (LLMs) to assist with tasks such as knowledge searches, summarization, copywriting, image generation, and code writing.
According to a 2024 report from Microsoft and LinkedIn, 75% of global knowledge workers use AI for work, often bringing their own tools, which poses significant security risks. Fuel EX addresses these concerns by ensuring that all data remains secure and proprietary. This allows employees to trust that their information is protected, maintaining the integrity of sensitive company data.
Fuel EX offers enterprises, administrators, and employees unique benefits across three distinct pillars: trust, flexibility, and control. For trust, administrators can select data privacy options from various LLMs and cloud providers, ensuring secure storage and encryption of employees’ chat histories. Additionally, Fuel EX provides AI inference and data storage within Canadian borders for added security.
In terms of flexibility, enterprises have access to a diverse range of LLMs and multimodal AI models to meet varied needs. Administrators can use model keys from Fuel EX or their own for additional control, while employees can choose preferred models and adjust settings for optimal productivity.
Regarding control, enterprises can monitor model usage, set restrictions, and manage permissions from a single control plane. Administrators have the ability to modify AI model access, including adding or removing custom, open-source, or proprietary models. The Fuel EX user interface supports English and French (Canadian), and many LLMs offer multi-language support.
With a roadmap for future enhancements, Fuel EX will continue to evolve, adding more GenAI features and administrative tools.
